The DDP Launches New Party Technology To Create Global Peace Movement!

The Decentralized Dance Party gained tremendous online momentum in the wake of the pandemic and is now spearheading a groundbreaking transition back into the physical world with their Global Peace Party on World Peace Weekend.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Vancouver, B.C. — September 15, 2020 — Tom and Gary’s Decentralized Dance Party, known commonly as the “Decentralized Dance Party” or “DDP,” has experienced tremendous interest from fun-seekers worldwide in the wake of COVID-19.

Since quarantine began, the group has hosted highly successful Virtual Decentralized Dance Parties (VDDPs) for the past 23 weeks.

Created 11 years ago in Vancouver, BC, the DDP traditionally creates open-source, large-scale, mobile parties that treasure inclusiveness and creativity, bringing together groups of people to celebrate en masse. Participants carry vintage boomboxes and the DJ is outfitted with a portable FM radio transmitter. All the boomboxes tune into the FM broadcast, creating a mobile, synchronized sound system and a completely mobile party.

Since 20019, the DDP has attracted hundreds of thousands of participants across four continents with this technique, attracting up to 20,000 in a single Party. Now, using revolutionary technological innovations that blend virtual and terrestrial worlds, the group is creating a safe transition back into group celebration. These hybrid Parties use live Zoom calls tethered to giant portable “Soundboks” speakers that share the Parties back into public spaces, where “social dis-dancing” can occur.

“The pandemic drove us to innovate and launch the Virtual Decentralized Dance Party, or VDDP. Technology has enabled us to come together digitally like never before. Now, with our unique structure and skills, we are taking these Parties back into the real world in a safe way.” said Gary Lachance, Co-Founder of the DDP.

A live Party map allows mobile, terrestrial Party locations to be discovered for others to join. Portable video links allow in-person attendees to integrate their experience with their virtual counterparts, eliminating any sense of separation between Party participants! Anyone, anywhere, with an internet connection and enabled device can join the party.

“Given that quarantine restrictions have cancelled almost every major event, we are excited to offer a free, open, Decentralized venue for thousands of strangers to come together, dress up, laugh, dance and Party, even in a world where we must remain safely distanced.” added Lachance.

The theme of this Saturday’s event is “World Peace / Inner Peace” and participants are invited to creatively and joyfully express what this looks and feels like. For the Vancouver-based in-person celebration, the DDP is also teaming up with the VYVE wellness team which has followed the DDP’s lead to create massive unifying celebrations across the globe for the past three years.

The Celebration begins at 3:00PM PDT and will conclude at 6:00PM PDT. Highlights will be shared in an hour-long broadcast in the Peace Weekend — UP Convergence online stream.
